When buying loose diamonds you need to know who you are buying from, a pretty good idea about your budget and a little more about the characteristics of the gem you are considering purchasing.

Women have pretty much shopped about with friends and have had some idea of the shape they want, be it a round brilliant, radiant diamonds, oval diamond, etc.  Also they know they want platinum engagement rings or gold engagement rings or some unique designed engagement ring.  Seldom do they think in terms of loose diamonds or discount diamonds or even certified diamonds.  These few points, if you take the time to educate yourself, can save you money, and possibly get you a bigger, better diamond, possibly a loose diamond, a discounted diamond etc.
